Center for Logistics Technologies and
Supply Chain Optimization

Center for Logistics Technologies and Supply Chain Optimization (Logitsco) is a cross-disciplinary center established by the Faculty of Engineering of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), in collaboration with Oracle, Sun Microsystems, and other industrial partners.

The mission of Logitsco is to foster excellence in the development of knowledge and tools to facilitate commerce on the web, and more broadly, to support operational decisions and internet strategies in an information-intensive and technology-based economy.

Logitsco will conduct basic and applied research in three broad areas of technology: internet and information systems technologies, enterprise solution technologies, and emerging logistics and supply chain-centric technologies.

A major focus of Logitsco is to develop a select set of "Logistics and Supply Chain Pilots'' -- local firms (including those in manufacturing, logistics, retail, and other service sectors)  that are committed to adopting logistics and supply chain technologies and setting up business operations on the internet. Through its faculty, students, and other professionals, Logitsco will assist the Pilots in training, business re-engineering, and system deployment. In addition, Logitsco will organize workshops and certificate programs, offered to a broader range of firms, for industry professionals to acquire the relevant skills in logistics and supply chain.

A new cross-disciplinary M.Sc. Program in E-Commerce and Logistics Technologies has been developed, and will be offered in the fall of 2006. Logitsco's pilot and training programs will provide real-world projects to enrich the student's educational experience in the program.
